Whiplash Treatment
Any substantial blow to your body, whether from a car accident, contact sport, or an accident at work, can cause whiplash and other neck injuries and warrant a chiropractic evaluation.
When one car hits another, each person’s body is thrown toward the impact and then away from it. This is whiplash. Even at low speeds, the wrenching force puts stress and strain on the spine, especially the neck. The weight of the head stretches and damages muscles and ligaments, and it pulls spinal bones out of position.
This type of injury to the neck and back can be very serious. Symptoms may appear right away or may not show up for weeks or even months. Too often, people don’t seek treatment until more serious complications develop. Even after whiplash victims settle their insurance claims, 45% report that they still suffer from symptoms two years later. Chiropractic manipulation is one of the only proven remedies for whiplash injuries.
As one of the region’s top chiropractic and shockwave therapists, Dr. David W. Nadler has helped countless clients ease nerve pain and loosen tight muscles after a whiplash injury. With his knowledge of modern physical therapy techniques and shockwave technology, you can have confidence you’ll receive the best possible care for your neck pain.

Symptoms of Whiplash Include:
Pain, Especially in Your Neck, Shoulder, Arm, or Lower Back
Whiplash injuries can cause pain in the muscles and soft tissues around the neck, shoulder, and nearby regions. After experiencing a car accident or extreme physical abuse, you may start feeling severe pain that extends into your arms or lower back. Whiplash pain can become worse when left untreated, making early intervention vital for minimizing discomfort.
Stiffness While Moving
Stiffness while moving is another possible symptom of whiplash-associated disorders. The neck muscles and surrounding soft tissues can become tight, which restricts your range of motion. Muscle spasms may also develop in response to the injury and cause further pain.
Difficulty Moving Your Neck
A neck injury can make it difficult to move your head in a different direction. Not only can whiplash reduce your neck’s range of motion, but it can also make it painful to move your neck at all.
Arm or Leg Numbness
In some cases, whiplash pain is accompanied by numbness in the arms or legs. This numbness can occur when a neck injury compresses nerves or causes irritation in the spinal cord. As a result, individuals with whiplash injuries may experience tingling or loss of sensation.
Headache, Dizziness, and/or Vision Problems
Not all whiplash symptoms are physical. Depending on the severity of the injury, individuals may experience neurological problems that affect their day-to-day lives.
Persistent headaches or dizziness after a car accident could indicate more serious underlying issues related to the neck sprain or spinal cord. Other symptoms can stem from the whiplash injury affecting blood flow to the brain.
Tiredness and Sleeplessness
Individuals who sustain a whiplash injury may also become more tired. The severe pain and nerve discomfort that accompany these injuries can make it hard to get restful sleep. What’s more, the tight muscles and reduced range of motion can make even lying down comfortably can become difficult.
If you experience any of these symptoms, play it safe and get a chiropractic check-up.
